You
ask why I didn't say Prophetess? Because there is neither Jew nor Greek,
there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: For all of
us are one in Christ Jesus. (Gal 3:28) On October 3, 19.. A
Prophet was born.
"An anointed, gifted, faithful, humble, confident, and classy
woman who has been blessed with God given talents to perform gospel
music."
Don Thomas - "Entertainment," New York Beacon News
"She's a ball of fire whose heat is ignited by Jesus. She's
exciting and bold and in love - madly in love with Jesus."
Gloria Lacey, The New York Christian Times
"In a city as vast as New York, there are many hidden
treasures. Occasionally we do find one. Such is the case with
multi-talented Talitha Cumi.
Sal Baldino, "Music and Artist Review,"

PROPHETESS TALITHA
CUMI
There's a story in the Bible about a
girl who was believed to be dead. Jesus knew she was alive, He
took her hand and said, "Talitha Cumi," which is being
interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise -- and she rose to
His call. (Mk 5:41) |
Appointed
She
affectionately refers to herself as "Jesus' Baby Girl." Her
love for Him is undaunted, her spirit dedicated. She answered His
call several years ago, leaving behind years of professional
entertainment in the secular world, and committed her life and
talents to sharing His gospel. She is Prophetess Talitha Cumi. |
History
Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut to
father Abraham Taft Jr. who played in the minor leagues and mother
Peggy Lee Taft who placed second at the Apollo twice, Evangelist Cumi had a foundation for what would soon become her essence:
entertaining.
She completed most of her schooling in Newport News, Virginia, where
she was crowned "Miss Black Teenage World." Seeking greater heights,
Cumi moved to New York to study theatre at the American Academy of
Dramatic Arts and then back to Hampton, Virginia where she graduated
with top honors from the Academy of Modeling. She was on a path that
through planning and perseverance led her closer to her dream.
|
Driven
After
years of performing for audiences worldwide, Prophetess Cumi felt something was missing. She shares, "My
body and mind were there, but my heart cried out for more."
Cumi who worked with Kool Moe Dee, Kurtis Blow, Buster Poindexter
and producer Nile Rodgers over a period of years was
unsatisfied.
Even after singing demo leads and background vocals -- as well as
performing at Caesar's Palace, the David Letterman Show, the
Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, and touring in Europe with "The Boss",
Diana Ross, she wanted more. |
Anointed
Her voice is rich, confident and expressive -- under the direction of God. Her
contemporary gospel sound is praised by the old and the young. She is
a writer, singer, actress, dancer, producer, evangelist and pastor who also produces "From The Heart" a gospel variety
program which aired weekly in New York. In all forms, she's a
messenger of the gospel of Jesus Christ. |
Currently
Prophetess Talitha Cumi travels both nationally and
internationally keynote speaking, singing, preaching, making
television guest appearances on other shows like: Praise The Lord
on TBN, Gospel Today, Bobby Jones Gospel on BET, etc. -- while
hosting and producing her own show entitled "From The Heart",
which
presently is not airing, as we allow the Holy Spirit to take us
higher to another network, having aired 7 years in Manhattan,
Queens, Brooklyn, and the Bronx on both Time Warner and Cablevision.
